Product Description
Sodium Bromide (NaBr) powder is a single salt used to brine workover and completion fluids. Sodium Bromide powder has densities ranging from 8.4 to 12.8lb/gal(1,007 to 15,34kg/m3).These fluids are used where formation pressures require densities from 8.4 to 12.8lb/gal (1,007 to 1,534kg/m3) or where the formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions. NaBr can be mixed with NaCl to obtain densities up to 12.8lb/gal (1,534kg/m3). NaBr /NaCl systems are more economical than pure NaBr solutions.
Application/Function
Sodium Bromide is used in clear-brine completion or workover operations that require densities between 8.4 and 12.8lb/gal (1,007 to 1,534kg/m3). This system eliminates the potential of formation damage due to the precipitation of carbonate, bicarbonate or sulfate compounds associated with using calcium-base brines where formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions.
